I met Kody and Kyla back in August when I took some
family photos for Kody's mom before he embarked on his journey into the Navy. Maybe it was my emotional pregnant state but even though I'd never met this family, I certainly had a little lump in my throat about the whole "leaving family and long time girlfriend behind" thing. Happily, a couple of months later I received an email from Kody's mom saying that he was going to pop the question over the Thanksgiving holiday (Yay! Happiness!) and asking if I could photograph their wedding. Of course I said yes, although with a little bit of apprehension and nervousness because I knew I would be very near the end of my pregnancy on their wedding date! We met for their
engagement session a couple of days after their official engagement and talked about the details. I took an extra step of lining up a list of emergency backup photographers that I could call on in the event that I delivered early or had some other complication and procured a 2nd shooter to get shots I love to have and knew I wouldn't be able to get (my weddings typically involve lying on my stomach, climbing for higher vantage points and doing other crazy stunts that are impossible with a 9 month pregnant belly). In the end, all was well! I got some strange looks and some funny comments (lol) but I made it through the entire 8 hour day with energy to spare :)
The day went off without a hitch! The weather was DRY (yaaaayyy!), everyone was calm and in great moods, and we got some wonderful, beautiful shots documenting their wedding day. Kyla's dress was amazing; their choices in colors and decor were beautiful, and the venue was perfect for a winter wedding. I'll let the photos tell the rest of the story :)
